Description

The Old Alarm is a late 18th century to early 19th century corner building located at the junction of Quay Hill and Quay Street. It features three angled faces and is constructed of red brick with silver grey headers and wide eaves. The building stands three storeys tall, with one window on each facade, all of which are sash windows with glazing bars.

On the ground floor, there is a small 19th century shop window in the center, although it is no longer used as a shop. There are two doors: the southern door is flanked by pilasters and has a modillion cornice above, with two arched lights in the top half of the door. The northern door has a small bracketed hood and a six-panelled door, of which the top two panels are now glazed. The northern part of the facade features a large blank painted panel.

The listed buildings on Quay Hill, along with the pavement surface and bollards, form a group of Grade II* quality due to their significant shop fronts.
