Description
The Old Solent Inn is an early 18th-century building that is no longer used as an inn. It features a white painted brick facade with flanking pilasters, a cornice, and a parapet. The building has a tiled roof, stands two storeys high, and includes four windows and one blank space, all with sash windows that have glazing bars. The central doorway is framed by pilasters and a pediment, topped with a semi-circular fanlight, and the door itself consists of six moulded panels. To the south-east, there is a small 19th-century shop front that is no longer in use, which has two arched lights on each side of the door, with similar lights above, all under a common cornice. The listed buildings on Quay Hill, along with the pavement surface and bollards, form a group of Grade II* quality due to their shop fronts.
