Description

Brookheath House is a small country house that dates from the late 17th century, with extensions made in the early 18th century and a new entrance block added in the early 19th century when it served as the dower house for the Eyre Coote family. The house has been altered in the early 20th century. It is built of painted and stuccoed brick with a slate roof.

The original house is two stories high with three bays, and an 18th-century bay was added to one end. A taller range was constructed behind it in the early 19th century, along with a new entrance block that is two stories and an attic, featuring three bays with projecting one-bay wings at the end bays. There are also two two-bay, two-story additions at one end.

The main part of the house has a recessed center with a projecting porch supported by Doric columns, featuring glazed double doors and sidelights. A 20th-century room has been added above this area. The end bays have large 12-pane sash windows on the first floor, with a second-floor band and 6-pane sashes in the attic, including a setback in the center. The house has a low parapet with coping and a stack at the right-hand end. The additions feature similar windows, bands, and parapets, with a stack located between the two sections.
