Description
Clack Barn is a field barn dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a tall red brick plinth built in English bond. The barn has a half-hipped roof covered with corrugated sheet steel. It is designed with a four-bay layout and has opposing cart entrances located in the second bay from the north end. On the northwest and southeast sides, there are full-height cart entrances to the left and right of the center, each fitted with corrugated sheet steel doors. Inside, the barn retains an intact four-bay frame with straight braces connecting jowled posts to tie-beam trusses that include queen-struts. The interior also features staggered trenched purlins, a ridgepiece, common rafters, and battens, along with wall framing made up of full-height studs and long straight braces, without any rails.
