Description
This is a pair of houses located at 1, 1A, and 3 King Street, dating from the early 19th century. They are built of brick and topped with a slate roof. The symmetrical front faces northeast and features three storeys with two windows. The low-pitched hipped roof has wide eaves supported by plain flat brackets. The walls are made of yellow brick laid in Flemish bond, with recessed plain pilaster ends. The first-floor openings have rubbed flat arches, while the ground floor has rubbed cambered wide arches above a recessed wall that contains a bow window. This bow window, which has three lights, is a recent addition but follows the original design. The house at 1A has a casement window. The doorways are set back at each end and feature a panelled architrave with plain corner blocks, along with six-panelled doors, although the door for 1A has been modernised. The side walls are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with blue headers.
