Description
The Eversley War Memorial is located within the churchyard of St Mary’s Church in Eversley. It features a large oak cross set on a mound, accompanied by a simple headstone on a single step, with an additional rectangular stone placed in front at its base.
The main inscription reads: "TO THOSE WHO DIED IN THE WAR/ (NAMES)/ 1914 1919/ IN THANKFUL REMEMBRANCE." On one side of the cross, there is another inscription that states: "O SAVIOUR/ WHO DIDST/ DIE FOR ALL/ REMEMBER IN/ THY MERCY/ THOSE WHO/ DIED FOR US." Below this is a carved poppy emblem, and underneath it is inscribed: "KOREA 1951 (NAME)." The opposite side features a carved palm frond, symbolizing valour and victory.
The additional stone at the base is inscribed with the names of those who fell in the Second World War, followed by the years 1939 1945.
