Description

Greywell Hill House is a large building dating from the 18th century to the early 19th century, consisting of several parts. The structure features joists that are visible as small rebates in the walling, along with slight variations in roof height, yet it presents a nearly symmetrical wide east front and a symmetrical south front.

The east front has two storeys with a window arrangement of 3:2:3:3:1. It is topped with a red tile roof that is hipped at the ends and features angular two-storey bays with three windows on each side. The eaves are stone coved, and the walls are finished in stucco. The upper windows include sashes, while the casements imitate sashes, and there are French windows that open onto a terrace.

The south front also has two storeys and features three windows, with bays at each end. It has a red tile roof and stone moulded eaves, with stucco walls resting on a high plinth. The window arrangement includes casements, with one additional window added on the ground floor to the west side of the porch. Above the solid porch, which has a parapet with coping and a band, there is a large sash window in reveals. The rear of the house presents an irregular facade of three storeys, featuring two massive buttresses, sashes and casements, and two tall arched staircase windows. The roof is again red tiled, with brick dentil eaves.
