Description
Chequers Inn is a building that dates from the 17th century, with early 19th-century and modern additions. It is a two-storey structure with a board-fronted facade, featuring an early timber-framed core and a later extension to the east. There is a long single-storey stable block further to the east, which turns south, along with modern flat-roofed extensions added to the front (north) of the building. The roof is covered with red tiles. The walls are primarily made of painted brickwork, with tile-hanging above the modern block, and a small area of timber framing is exposed at the rear. The early 19th-century section has cambered openings, some of which are blocked. The building mostly has modern windows and a porch. Inside, there are surviving elements of the old timber framework.
