Description
Nos 6 and 8 East Street is a timber-framed building dating from the 18th century, with square panel framing visible on the east wall and inside. The street facade was refronted in the late 18th century or early 19th century, featuring grey headers with red brick window dressings, quoins, and a modillion eaves cornice. The building has a half-hipped tiled roof and is two storeys high, with a total of four windows, including a blank window on the first floor and three ground floor windows, all of which are sashes with late 19th-century glazing. No 8 features a canted ground floor bay. The doorways have moulded architraves with pediments. No 6 has panelled reveals and a six-panelled door, with the top two panels now glazed. Nos 3 to 39 (odd) and Old Clarendon House form a group with Nos 2, 6, and 8, along with Nos 14 to 18 (even), Nos 22 to 26 (even), Rockstone House, and Nos 5 to 11 (odd), The Old Lodge, and Old Lodge Cottage on High Street, Titchfield. Nos 14 to 18 (even) and Nos 22 to 26 (even) are noted as buildings of local interest.
