Description
The Museum at Lord Mayor Treloar Hospital is a single-storey building constructed around 1912, now used as a store. It features rubble flint walling with redbrick dressings and a lead roof, designed in an octagonal plan. The north entrance has large double plank doors set in a chamfered brick surround, topped with a hanging lantern. The alternate side facades include single 2-light pointed arch windows, also in chamfered brick surrounds. Originally, the building had brick battlements, which have since been removed. This small structure was built by patients of the Lord Mayor Treloar Hospital as part of their practical rehabilitation and training, enabling them to support themselves after discharge. It is listed for its historic significance related to the pioneering rehabilitation work led by the first Director, Sir Henry Gauvain.
