Description
The Hen and Chicken Public House is a public house built around 1740, with 19th-century extensions. It was originally a chaise house, established after the construction of a new coach road around 1730. The building features brick walls and a tiled roof. The symmetrical front, facing southeast, has two storeys and an attic, with a total of five windows arranged as 2-1-2. The roof is plain and includes four gabled Victorian dormers. The red brick walls are laid in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches and a plinth, while the centerpiece is accentuated by two pilasters. The windows are sash style. There is a Tuscan porch with an entablature supported by two smooth columns. Additionally, there is a single-storey extension on the east side, which has two windows and is constructed in the same style as the main building.
