Description
Ropley Lodge is a house built in the late 18th century and early 19th century. It features stuccoed plain walls and has a slight projection on the east side. The slate roof is adorned with a moulded cornice supported by curved brackets. The building has an earlier core that has been extended and remodelled. The south front is two storeys high with two windows, featuring sashes in exposed frames. There is a Victorian doorway with a moulded canopy on large brackets and a half-glazed door.
The east elevation, dating from the early 19th century, has a segmental curve at its south side and also has two windows, similar details, and French doors. The west elevation displays two gables with different pitches, with the rear gable being steeper. The north rear elevation shows the different phases of construction, primarily from the late 18th century, and includes four upper sash windows and a central rectangular upper bay that replaced an earlier staircase light. There are also outshot structures, including a gabled porch. Inside, there is an original plain staircase.
