Description

Brocas Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations in the early 20th century. It is a Queen Anne style house which has been restored at the rear and above eaves level. The symmetrical front elevation, facing south-west, has two storeys and an attic, with a 2-window front. The roof is gabled at each end, with tile hanging and attic windows, hipped above rearward extensions, with two gabled dormers to the front and south-east sides. A fully-moulded eaves cornice is present, with a simpler pediment above the slightly projecting centrepieces. The walls are of Flemish bond brickwork, with rubbed flat arches, a moulded first-floor band (omitted in the centre), and a plinth. Sashes are set in exposed frames. The doorway has a moulded canopy supported by carved brackets, narrow panelled pilasters with bracket caps, a key to the plain architrave, and an eight-panelled door (with two top glazed panels), accessed by two stone steps. Inside, there is a staircase with dado panelling.
