Description

Husseys is a large house dating from the 16th century, with cladding added in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The building features mainly brick walls and a tiled roof, along with a timber-framed structure that includes rear wings. There are 18th-century extensions of two storeys on the front (east side) and smaller early 19th-century additions between the wings at the rear.

The south elevation is two storeys high and has six windows. It has a hipped roof with two hips behind a parapet on the east side. The walls are constructed in Flemish bond, with a first-floor bond, rubbed flat arches, and a plinth. The east side features a parapet band and two wider windows, which were added later, with cambered openings. The windows include sash types and one casement. Cast-iron rainwater heads from the 20th century are marked with the date 1603.

The west end of the house has a large chimney stack and tile hanging on the upper walls. The entrance features a reused 18th-century doorcase that includes a shell hood, carved brackets, pilasters with Corinthian capitals, and panelled reveals. The rear elevation and east end display exposed timber framing, alongside early 19th-century brick walls in Flemish bond, with cambered openings, a plinth, and cast-iron diamond casements. The large panelled stack, along with the west stack, suggests that the chimneys were attached to the outside of the frame. Inside, there is a Tudor fireplace and some exposed timber framing.
