Description

Brecklands is a pair of houses that were originally a workhouse, built in the late 18th century. The structure features brick walls and a tiled roof, forming a rectangular block that stands at right angles to the roadway. The front, facing south, is two storeys high and has six windows. It has a hipped roof with brick dentil eaves. The walls are constructed in Flemish bond and have cambered openings on the ground floor, along with a plinth. The windows are casements, including some original leaded windows. There are two boarded doors set in plain frames. The building was converted into cottages in 1835 when the workhouse was moved to Alton.
