Description

Blue Cottage is a house dating to the 18th century, with a 20th-century extension. It has brick walls and a tile roof. Originally a timber-framed building, it was refronted later. The house is two storeys high with three windows, and a larger westward extension built around 1970, incorporating an old barn originally from Kent Lane, Alton. The roof is hipped. The walls are of Flemish bond brickwork and include a short band along the first floor. The ground floor openings are cambered, and there’s a plinth. Some timber framing is visible on the east wall. There are three old leaded casement windows on the upper floor, and other casements elsewhere. The doorway is plain. A stone plaque above the door is inscribed "AC 1737".
