Description
The barn at Hackwood Farm dates from the 18th century and features a five-bay timber frame with open aisles on the sides. It has a Queen Post truss with arched bracing to the ties and purlins of the end bays, and the frame is supported by brick base walls that also divide the aisles. The roof is made of corrugated iron and is half-hipped, with a hipped tiled roof above the central entrances that are cantilevered on the south side. The walls are weather-boarded above the brick base, with weather-boarded inner walls, and the eaves of the open aisles are supported on poles.
