Description

This is a group of three buildings, numbers 43, 45, and 47, located on The Street in Old Basing. The buildings date to the 16th and 17th centuries, with later alterations and additions. They form an L-shaped block, now subdivided, and include a rear extension. The roof is steep and covered with old tiles. A prominent feature is the presence of two large chimney stacks, one positioned at the angle of the buildings and featuring a stone panel inscribed with the date 1593. The walls are rendered, with a band marking the first floor and a second-floor band constructed of brick dentil mouldings on the south side gable. The south side also has a projecting window frame with quoins and a blank attic panel. While the majority of the windows are modern casements, three very small windows remain from the 16th century. There are modern ground-floor bay windows and a modern front door.
