Description

Orchard Cottage and Folly Cottage are two dwellings that originated as a terrace of two pairs of double-fronted cottages, dating from the 16th century and early 19th century. The buildings are two storeys high and feature nine windows on the ground floor. They have a continuous thatched roof that is hipped at the ends. The walls are made of painted brick, with cambered openings on the ground floor. The windows are casements, with most of the upper lights consisting of old leaded panes; the three on the north side are positioned at a lower level, while the lower lights are made of wood. There are three boarded doors set in solid frames. Notably, the south unit includes a late medieval timber-framed hall.
