Description
Laburnham Cottage is a building dating from the 17th century and 18th century. It is a long, narrow structure with one storey and an attic, featuring irregular window placements. In the center, there is a brickwork projection from the earlier period that rises two storeys at the front (north) and has a gable with a diamond-shaped feature displaying the date 1677. This projection includes a window on both the first and ground floors, and a plinth that extends on either side. The southern part of the projection has had its upper section removed. The cottage has a thatched roof, which is hipped at the east end, with tiles covering the projection and a forward outshot that extends over the west side and returns along the west end with a hip. The building features exposed timber-framing in various areas, with painted brick infilling, while other parts are constructed from later painted brickwork. The windows include casements, some with old cast-iron lights, and a 16-pane sash window on the front, along with two small dormers. The front has a modern panelled door, while the rear has boarded doors. The east end includes an outshot with boarded walls that conceals a large 18th-century chimney stack.
