Description

Holdway Cottages are almshouses built in 1862 and modernised in 1982. The west elevation is symmetrical, featuring two storeys with a layout of 1.2.1 windows. The building has a steep slate roof with gables on each side. The walls are made of flint with red brick quoins, and there are bands at the impost and cill levels, as well as a plinth. The openings are chamfered and have four-centred arches with brick-filled tympana. The original front doorways have been reformed into windows, and modern casements have been added. A central stone plaque is inscribed with "In Memorian ROBERT HOLDWAY 1862."
