Description
Nos 9 and 10 on High Street are 18th-century houses that form a large block with two storeys and five windows, spaced widely apart. The building features four dormers, a stone string course, and a wooden eaves cornice, topped by a tiled roof. The ground floor of No 9 has been altered to create an arcade in front of the shop front, with the upper storey overhanging on wooden pillars. No 10 has a flat hood over its doorway, supported by brackets, and an eight-panelled moulded door. Both ends of the block, east and west, have three gables each and are covered with tiles. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 6, 7, 7A, and Nos 9 to 17, along with gate piers, The Old Coach House, a gazebo in the garden of No 11, and the Rye Working Men's Conservative Club.
