Description

This property comprises numbers 103 and 103A on High Street, likely originating as a single timber-framed building dating from the 16th century or earlier. The first floor is jettied, and the building stands two storeys high with an attic. Number 103 has one dormer window, and number 103A has one. The front of number 103A is entirely plastered, while number 103 retains exposed timber framing on the first floor, with plastered panels set between the stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. The ground floor of number 103 is clad in painted brick. Number 103A features 18th-century sash windows and a ground-floor bay, from which the glazing bars have been removed. Number 103 has casement windows, some of which have been enlarged, along with a 19th-century shop window on the ground floor. The building forms a group with numbers 92 to 97 (inclusive) and 99 to 104A (inclusive), including the George Hotel.
