Description

This listing covers three houses, numbered 82 and 83, the Abbey Hotel (number 84), and houses numbered 85 and 86, all on the north-east side of Battle High Street. The visible fronts of these buildings date to the early 19th century, concealing older, probable timber-framed structures behind. Each property has two storeys and an attic. They are arranged with three windows per house and two dormers. The fronts are stuccoed and feature cornices and parapets. The roofs are steeply pitched and tiled, with missing glazing bars in the windows. Modern shop fronts have been installed. The group value of these buildings lies in their contribution to the character of the High Street.
