Description
Battle Memorial Hall, also known as Ticehurst House and Langton House, is a single building dating from the 16th to 17th century, which was refronted in the 18th century. It stands three storeys tall and features five windows. The ground floor is constructed of red brick, while the upper floors are tile-hung. The building has a modillion eaves cornice and a tiled roof.
Notably, the center of the second floor is recessed, featuring a wooden balustraded balcony and a triangular window that extends out from behind the balustrade. There is one round-headed window on the first floor, and the glazing bars remain intact above the ground floor. The doorway of No 81 is adorned with fluted pilasters, a moulded frieze, a pediment, and an eight-panelled door. No 81A has a matching modern doorway. Additionally, there are two modern curved shop windows with imitation "Gothick" glazing. The Memorial Hall includes a projecting modern porch designed in a Georgian style, supported by two pairs of fluted Ionic columns.
