Description

The Armoury is a medieval building located on Castle Street in Winchelsea, which has undergone alterations in the 18th century and since then. The west end of the building dates back to the 14th century, while the east end is from the 15th century. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring three windows and three dormers. Two of the dormers are hipped, and one is a large pentagonal modillion window with a hipped roof. The structure is made of stone rubble and includes a parapet and buttresses at both ends of the front. The north front has two chimney breasts also made of stone rubble. Inside, there is a king-post roof and a vaulted cellar that dates back to around 1300.
