Description
Numbers 1-4 Maze Hill Terrace form a terrace built around 1850, a later work by the renowned architect Decimus Burton. The buildings are stuccoed with a slate roof and have stuccoed chimney stacks. They have a symmetrical design, standing three storeys high with a basement, and feature ten windows across the front. A moulded eaves cornice and prominent quoins enhance the appearance. Numbers 2 and 3 are slightly recessed and each have three windows. The second-floor windows are sash windows with vertical details, horns, and stops. The first-floor windows have projecting cornices. The ground floor is rusticated, featuring paired porches supported by pilasters, round-headed arches with keystones and impost blocks. Numbers 1 and 4 project slightly, with two windows each; the end bays are tripartite, and the ground floor windows are panelled with a central circular motif. Round-headed porches with keystones and pilasters are present. Steps lead from the street, and cast iron spear railings are a feature. The rear elevation includes canted bays. The interior retains original staircases, ceiling roses, and cornices.
