Description

The buildings at 6 to 9 Wellington Square date to around 1820. They are stucco-faced, with the ground floors of numbers 8 and 9 rusticated, and number 9 roughcast above. The roofs are slate with flat-roofed dormers containing glazing bars. The buildings are three storeys high, with an attic and basement. Each building has one window across, creating a facade of four windows total. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, although the ground floor windows of number 6 have lost their glazing bars. The first-floor windows are French windows; numbers 6 and 9 have more recent French windows. Balconies are present on the first floor of numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9; numbers 6 and 7 have later wooden balustrades, while numbers 8 and 9 feature ironwork supported by brackets. Each building has a round-headed doorway with a traceried fanlight above a moulded panelled door; number 6's door has been partly glazed. Cast iron railings define the basement area. The listed buildings collectively contribute to a significant group value within Wellington Square.
