Description
Barford House, now used as offices, was built around 1850 and extended in the 19th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. The building features painted render and a tiled, gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan with late 19th-century extensions at the rear and stands two storeys high with attics. There are two chimneys on the ridge, one on the left and one on the right, both with offset heads and clay pots. The front has four bays and two gables, with sash windows framed by architraves. On the right side, there is a recessed part that is two storeys high and one bay wide, featuring a small gabled roof and a small sash window on the first floor. The entrance consists of a repositioned four-panelled door located in a later flat-roofed closed porch, which has a wreathed and radiating fanlight above it. This entrance is approached by four steps from the 20th century. The property is also adorned with 19th-century iron railings that span the entire width of the front in two bays, set on a low plinth and topped with fleur-de-lys heads.
