Description

A pair of small houses dating from the 17th century, significantly extended and refaced in the late 18th century. The houses are constructed of timber framing, painted render, and painted stucco with incised lines, and have old tile gabled roofs of varying heights. They have an irregular plan, with a framed bay at the rear of number 7. The houses are two storeys high in parts, with an attic to others. There are two chimneys with clay pots at the rear. The front of the houses is symmetrical with four bays, featuring a moulded eaves cornice supported by brackets. The first floor has a sash window on the left, a two-light square casement on the right, and two tall single casements in the centre. The ground floor has two tripartite sash windows, the one on the right with glazing bars. There are two central three-panel doors, with glazed upper panels, each set beneath an early 19th-century pediment hood with cut pelmets, and a single stone step leading to each. Number 7 contains a late 18th-century staircase with balusters and a moulded handrail.
