Description
The Wheatsheaf Inn is a public house that originated as a house in the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and further changes in the 20th century. The building features a combination of painted brick and timber framing with brick infill, topped by a slate gabled roof on the south side and an old tile half-hipped roof on the north. It has a parallel ridge plan, with the 17th-century section located to the north. The inn is two storeys high and has flanking chimneys on the south side, along with a 19th-century chimney on the ridge to the west of the north section.
On the south front, there are two bays of sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor. The ground floor includes a tall three-light casement window with small panes on the left, a similar window on the right, and a central entrance porch with a small pitched roof that has been closed off in the 20th century. The north part of the building consists of three framed bays with painted brick infill and a mix of 19th-century casement windows set within the timber framing.
