Description

Wingmore Lodge is a mid-18th century town house located on the north-west side of Rose Street, Wokingham. It is a three-storey building with a cellar and attic, and has a hipped roof covered in old tiles. The house was originally planned around two rooms with a central staircase. The brick construction is notable, with brick strings marking the first and second floor levels; the north-east front is rendered. The eaves are dentilled. The front of the building, facing Rose Street, has three bays. A triangular dormer window with two small, multi-paned sashes was added in the early 20th century. The windows are sash windows with multiple panes of glass, and the central entrance features a six-panel door, architrave, a simple rectangular fanlight, and a flat moulded hood, accessed by three stone steps and plain iron handrails. The south-east and south-west fronts feature blocked windows, with one larger window containing large panes of glass facing the street. Wingmore Lodge is a significant visual element at the south-west end of Rose Street, visible along its entire length from the north-east.
