Description

The outbuildings at Lucas Hospital are a long, low block consisting of 18 structures, built in the 17th century. They feature a central passageway that connects the Almshouse to a walled garden. Constructed of brick, the buildings have an old tiled gabled roof and are single-storey. A 19th-century chimney is located at the left end. Each outbuilding has one planked door with a wooden latch, and there are perforated brick ventilation slots in the centre of each brick panel between the doors. The roof structure includes queen post trusses and clasped purlins.
