Description
Weavers Cottage, formerly known as The Vicarage Cottage, is a cottage that has been converted into a small house. It dates back to the early 17th century and has undergone alterations and extensions in the early and mid-20th century. The building features a part timber frame with brick infill, some rendered sections, and brickwork. It has an old tile gabled roof. Originally, the cottage had a rectangular plan consisting of two framed bays, but it has since been modified to an L-shape with a large extension on the south side.
The cottage is two storeys high and has a large chimney on the right wall of the oldest part, with another chimney on the right end gable wall of the extension. The entrance front, facing west, is irregular in design. The left gable has a brick ground floor with rendered sections above. There is one three-light casement window on the first floor and two two-light casement windows on the ground floor, both with pediment hoods on either side of a 20th-century entrance door that features a gabled porch. The right-hand section of the cottage is also 20th-century but designed in a similar style. The timber frame is exposed on the northern return side.
