Description
The columned fountain enclosure at Charters, located on the east side of Charters Road in Sunningdale, was built in 1938 by Adie, Button and Partners for Frank Parkinson. This structure features a circular plan and is made of concrete and Portland stone. It is surrounded by 16 plain columns, which create an entryway on the west side, and includes a semicircle of four steps leading down to the fountain at the center. There is an additional flight of six steps descending from the fountain to the garden. The fountain itself is designed with four dolphins entwined, which support a fluted bowl. On either side of the enclosure, there are columns atop retaining walls, and a plain architrave sits above the columns.
