Description

Edgeworth House Youth Hostel Association is a 18th-century building located on Mill Lane. It is two storeys high with an attic and features a rendered exterior, a string course at the first-floor level, and a heavy wooden cornice with moulding and modillions. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there are flanking chimneys. The front has four bays, with a half-glazed door in the second bay from the right, which includes a rectangular fanlight with a semi-circular and radiating glazing pattern. The door case is adorned with an architrave surround, flat brackets, a plain frieze, and an enriched cornice and pediment. The house is set back from the road by a brick wall. Although the interior has been altered, it still retains a closed string dog leg staircase with turned balusters and turned pendant finials on the newels.
