Description
St Anne's House, also known as the Convent of St John the Baptist, is a Gothic-style building dating to 1853 and designed by the architect Henry Woodyer. The building is arranged in an 'H' shape and is constructed of red brick, with a steeply pitched tiled roof. The south front features casement windows and a prominent bay window on the ground floor with five pointed lights. Above this are three small gablets acting as dormers. Four circular chimneys rise from the first floor, designed to resemble medieval bartisans with circular shafts, with three wider dormers situated between them. A west range, situated between gabled projections, has decorative cusped machicollation along the eaves. This range features six gablet dormers and six three-light windows with blind pointed arches.
