Description
Cruchfield House is a large country house built in the 18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. The house is rendered and features a slate hipped roof, with a rectangular plan that includes extensions on the sides and rear. It stands three storeys tall and has two end chimneys. The building has a plinth, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. The sash windows have glazing bars.
The entrance front faces south and is symmetrical, consisting of seven bays. It is adorned with rusticated corner pilasters that have moulded caps and bases, which rise from a moulded string course on the first floor. The first-floor windows feature pedimented heads and vertical fluted ornamentation in a frieze. The ground floor includes a 20th-century entrance door and French windows.
To the right of the main house is a 19th-century single-storey range that angles forward. This section has a 20th-century glazed door and two 2-light casement windows on the left. The right section is slightly taller and has three windows in the centre, which project slightly. This part includes a plinth, raised panel sections, a moulded string, a cornice, and coping to the parapet, with blind panels on each side.
