Description
The Cemetery Chapel, built between 1844 and 1846 by James Deason, is a Grade II listed building located on Eton Wick Road. It is constructed of flint with Bath stone dressings and features a steeply-pitched clay plain tile roof with stone coped gable ends, showcasing a Victorian Gothic, Early English style.
The chapel has a plan that combines the nave and chancel, with an entrance at the southwest end topped by a bellcote. A vestry is located on the northwest side.
On the exterior, there are lancet windows on the sides, with a stringcourse that continues around the angle buttresses at the corners. This stringcourse leads to the raised cill of a three-light lancet window at the northeast end. The southwest doorway features a moulded pointed arch with two orders of nook-shafts and a cinquefoil rose window above. The gable is topped with a gabled stone bellcote, while the northeast gable has a stone apex cross. The vestry on the north side includes lancets and a trefoil light in the gable, along with a lateral stack that has set-offs and a circular stone shaft pierced by a small quatrefoil.
The interior has not been inspected.
