Description

The Cemetery Lychgate, built between 1844 and 1846 by James Deason, is a notable structure made of flint with Bath stone dressings. It features a steeply-pitched clay plain tile roof, which has stone-coped gable ends adorned with gableted kneelers and apexes topped with iron crosses. The design reflects the Victorian Gothic style, specifically the Early English style, characterized by large double-chamfered pointed arches. The side walls are pierced by trefoil lights, adding to its decorative appeal. Inside, there are side benches and a common-rafter roof, enhancing the lychgate's functional and aesthetic qualities.
