Description
Common Lane House, dating from the early 18th century, is a boys' house of Eton College. It is constructed of red brick and features two storeys with attics. The front has five double-hung sash windows, each set in surrounds with cambered relieving arches above the ground floor windows. The entrance has a narrow panelled surround with moulded brackets, a cornice hood, a six-panel door, and a fine traceried fanlight. The building has sprocket eaves and an old tile roof with hipped gables on the side elevations, along with modern dormers. To the right, there is a late 18th-century three-storey wing with one window, which also has windows in reveals with cambered relieving arches and an old tile roof. There are 19th-century additions to the west, which are not included in this description.
