Description
20 High Street is a late 18th-century building that stands four storeys tall, constructed of stock brick which is now painted. It features string courses on the second and third floors, a small coved cornice, and a blocking course. The upper floors have two windows, with glazing bar sash windows on the second and third floors, which are adorned with plain diagonal pattern cast iron flower guards on the second floor. The first floor has French casements that open onto a contemporary cast iron balcony designed in a Gothick style. The original early 19th-century pair of shop fronts has been replaced with a modern shop front. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 4 (consecutive), 4a, 5 to 9 (consecutive), 9A, and 10 to 26 (consecutive), as well as the Dairy Pavilion in the garden of No 7 and Mistress Pages House.
