Description
24 High Street is an early to mid 18th century building that has an altered ground floor. It stands three storeys high with an attic, constructed from vitreous brick featuring red dressings. The building has painted stone plat bands and thin sill courses. There is a moulded and modillioned wood cornice with a bed mould that returns at the ends. The modern attic includes two windows that are set back from the front. The upper floors have four segmental arched windows without glazing bars. The ground floor has a plain modern shop front. Inside, there is an original open string staircase with plain turned balusters. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 4 (consecutive), 4a, 5 to 9 (consecutive), 9A, 10 to 26 (consecutive), the Dairy Pavilion in the garden of No 7, and Mistress Pages House.
