Description

Silwood Park Farmhouse, now student accommodation, dates from the early 17th century and has been altered in the 19th and mid-20th centuries. It is a timber-frame building with painted brick infill, featuring a plain tile gabled roof. The house is arranged in a U-shape, with projecting gables on the north-west side and an extension to the north.

The exterior is single-storied with attics. It has three chimneys topped with corniced heads and clay pots; two rise from the ridge. The windows are a mixture of 19th-century casements and sash windows, some with glazing bars. More recent casement windows are also present. The south-east front, which serves as the main entrance, is irregular, featuring a black, painted, rendered plinth. Four gabled dormers are visible, three with 5-light casements, and one smaller dormer with a 2-light casement. The ground floor has five sash windows; the first, fourth, and fifth are tripartite. A 20th-century entrance door with a glazed panel sits beneath a 20th-century gabled porch. There is a further bay extension on the right in a similar style.

The interior of the property was not inspected as part of the listing process.
