Description

Rosemary Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage, altered and extended in the 20th century. It is located on Paley Street in White Waltham. The construction is a mix of timber frame with painted brick infill and painted brick. The roof is gabled and covered in old tiles. The cottage likely began with a rectangular plan of three framed bays, and now features lean-to extensions at each end, with a gabled end facing the road. It is two storeys high with an attic. A chimney with a clay pot is on the right-hand end. The windows are mostly casement windows, some dating to the 19th century and others to the 20th century, with glazing bars. The south-facing front is irregular, with a brick underbuild and exposed timber frame on the first floor. The first floor has two early 19th-century two-light sliding casement windows, alongside one 20th-century window. The ground floor features three 20th-century two-light windows and one 19th-century two-light window. A half-glazed 20th-century entrance door is situated between the first and second windows on the ground floor. A lean-to extension on the left side incorporates a half-glazed door.
