Description
Beam End is a hall house and cottage that has been combined into one residence. It dates from the late 15th century, was extended in the 16th century, and altered in the 20th century. The building features a timber frame with brick infill, and part of it is underbuilt in brick. It has an old tile gabled roof and a rectangular plan consisting of six framed bays, with the former hall occupying two framed bays on the south side. The house has two storeys and three chimneys, one of which is large and weathered, located on the south gable, all topped with clay pots. The west-facing front is irregular with scattered windows, including a gabled dormer with a three-light window to the left of centre. On the first floor, there are two three-light windows and one two-light window. The ground floor features two three-light windows, one two-light window, and one four-light window. Inside, the fine timber frame is exposed, showcasing jowled posts.
