Description
Foxleigh Corner is a cottage dating from the mid-16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the late 20th century. The building features a combination of timber framing with brick infill, and parts are encased in brick. It has an old tile gabled roof and a rectangular plan that originally consisted of two cells with three framed bays. The eastern bay, which contained a former smoke bay, was demolished to insert a 17th-century chimney. There are extensions on the west and south sides of the cottage.
The cottage stands two storeys high and has two chimneys topped with clay pots. The entrance front faces north and showcases exposed timber framing in a symmetrical three-bay arrangement. It includes 19th-century two-light casement windows with glazing bars. A 20th-century gabled entrance porch leads to a 19th-century six-panel door, of which the top two panels are glazed. Inside, some timber framing is exposed, featuring curved braces, and there is an inglenook chimney. The 20th-century gabled extension on the right-hand (west) side is noted as having no special interest.
