Description

Stud Green Farmhouse is a house dating from circa 1600, with alterations and extensions made in the late 20th century. It is timber-framed with small-panel framing and brick infill, and has an old tile gabled roof. Originally rectangular and of four framed bays, the house now has a U-shape thanks to two gabled extensions to the rear. It is two storeys high, with one chimney on the left side and a ridge chimney to the right of centre. The windows are 20th-century leaded Gothic casements with pointed heads and interlaced glazing bars. The north-east front has two 2-light windows on the first floor and one 2-light window on the ground floor to the left; to the right, there are two 3-light windows with a 20th-century gabled porch containing a plain door. The interior features a good brick chimney and fireplace in the dining room, with a four-centred, moulded, arched head; a salt or spice cupboard door is decorated with carved thistles in a moulded frame. A similar brick fireplace is in the living room, but with a plain chamfered arched head. Exposed principal beams and joists are present on the ground floor, and one beam in the living room has carved wooden hanging hooks.
