Description

Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with refacing and additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is timber framed, featuring later red brick facing. The right side has red brick with an exposed roof truss above, along with red brick nogging, while the left side has red brick with a brick and flint plinth and an exposed roof truss above with herringbone red brick nogging. The building has an old tile roof and consists of two framed bays, with a half hipped cross wing to the right and a projecting half hipped cross wing to the left. It is 1½ storeys tall, with two-storey additions. The left side has a plinth, plat bands on both sides, and two gabled eave dormers featuring 2-light and 3-light casements. There is a large ridge stack off-centre to the right, an end stack to the rear on the left, and a stack at the front on the left. The first floor has a 6-light mullioned and transomed window on the right, while the ground floor has two 6-light mullioned and transomed windows on the right and one cross window on each floor of the cross wing to the left, which includes a ground floor relieving arch. To the left of the second window from the left, there is a four-panelled door with glazed upper panels and a 19th-century glazed porch. Inside, there are substantial remains of the timber frame, including queen post trusses and arch bracing, along with a 16th-century fireplace.
