Description

Nos 28 and 30 Market Place, also known as the National Westminster Bank, is a building constructed in 1864 by J. Chancellor in the Italian Gothic style. It stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical double-fronted facade featuring seven windows. The roof is made of slate, and the building is faced with Bath stone ashlar, which includes a bracketed cornice and a pilastered parapet that was originally pierced. The second floor has segmental-arched sash windows with pilasters, while the first floor windows are round arched and recessed, also with pilasters and a cornice. The ground floor has been altered. This building is included in the listing for its group value.
